Have You Got a Plan?

Musicians are great people - I am one, I know others well and music is definatly my favourite thing. Speaking to most musiciams however; it becomes evident that all though everyone is working hard to further their career, they are kind of doing the jack in the box thing and go in which ever direction that anything takes them! It is great to be flexible - but it is more important to know that you are following your plan.

Sit down and write down what it is that you really want to do. (ohoh it kind of sounds like I want you to write down your goals -sort of)

Write down: What is your career going to look like in five years. Now you are going to have to go a little backwards from there. Remember to write down your vision of Success as others visions will not be the same and therefore they are not someone to compete with. Your Vision can be as simple as having a great weekend band that plays one weekend an month to playing on the Grand Old Opry. When you do this though, think that if this was your job and you made a good living at it - not necessarily millions, would you be happy?

This is just a start and your plan could be many pages long, so for now - just get started on this - Write down your Vision of Success. Remember the saying "You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great" - Zig Ziglar
